About Diplomat Chess

Formed in 2017, Diplomat Chess offers high-quality scholastic chess instruction in New Jersey and New York City. Led by Rob Lazorchak, the company is named in honor of his alma mater's mascot, as well as his approach to teaching and developing working relationships.

The DC Difference

Unlike most after school enrichment providers that hire casual (unrated) players, or inexperienced college students, Rob is both a certified general education teacher and a competitive chess player. He not only has the chess content knowledge to fuel rapid scholastic growth, but he also possesses the teaching tools and strategies to convey complex ideas in a way that is understandable and easily assimilated. Combined with his ten years of full-time, professional, chess teaching experience, partnering with Diplomat Chess is, as they say in the chess world, a double exclam (!!) move.
